Michael Mania: Captain EO is back!

It's time to party like it's 1986! Or least party along with a short film that debuted in 1986. I know I'm a Michael Jackson freak, and in keeping with that I am in total support of Disneyland re-releasing it's short 3-D film starring Michael, Captain EO (now playing as of Tuesday). I honestly saw it at least four times at Disneyland when it was originally playing (I'm serious) and wouldn't mind viewing it again (granted the line is under an hour-I have my limits). I love the fact that although Michael Jackson is gone he's creating a new generation of fans all over again. Watch your back Elvis.

Here's a video of one of the songs originally featured in the short film. Enjoy!

Just in case you don't get to Disneyland, here's a little taste of Captain EO (without the 3-D and sound effects You Tube gives it no justice): Part 1 and Part 2.

Burberry Prorsum Gets Out of the Trenches

Happy Hump Day All! Well, we're still in the middle of fashion week but this time around London is up. Burberry is often synonymous with classic trench coats. I think Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2010 line has proven they can stay out of the trenches and still produce some really hot coats.

Of course there's more to the line than just coats. Check out Burberry Prorsum's Fall 2010 collection here.

Is Isaac Mizrahi on "Target" for Fall?

Happy Friday all! The weekend just couldn't come fast enough. And while we're on the subject of Target, I really miss Isaac Mizrahi's line for Target (yes, I shop at Target-right now I'm feeling their collaborations with Converse). With so many Fall 2010 RTW fashion collections to preview, I decided to check out Isaac's collection (what can I say, I'm a loyal Target devotee). Here's what caught my eye. Your thoughts?

Honestly, who doesn't love good leather?

A laid back approach to dressing up-throw a casual jacket on top of everything.

The use of this burnt orange combination is just perfect for Fall-warm and rich. This might be too much color for most, but I love the variations of the color, texture and draping of this look.

...oh and cute little fur bags.

Same concept on the color combo and texture. But when paired with the skirt and jacket I have an overwhelming urge to go trick or treating.

Animal Instincts

The Fall 2010 Ready to Wear shows are underway (yes, fashion has a funny little way of always making you feel two steps behind). On a hard over-worked week like this, the Fall collection Michael Kors gave be the most excitement and hope. I can just see myself boarding my private jet in one those fur coats. Luxury at it's finest.

I've got dibs on this one (and if I can just manage to sell my car, I can have it)!

Looks like the fur stole is back.

Okay, he went a little overboard with the fur skirt. Even Kate Moss might look fat in this.

So many furs, so little time. The PETA folks must have been locked in a basement during this show. I have a feeling there will be many faux fur options come Fall.

Tough Monday

Welcome back to the week! I hope everyone enjoyed a great weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect here (I'm sorry, it's not nice to brag)! It's already a crazy week but my back is against the wall and I can't spare enough time to do what I love (I hope the three of you aren't upset). Check back Wednesday and I should have my act together.

xoxo

Love and Loss: Valentine's Day Treat/RIP to Fashion Great Alexander McQueen

Happy Friday All! Let's all say goodbye to a long hard week and hello to a love filled Valentine's Day. Or as a very jaded individual pointed out to me, Single Person's Awareness Day (xoxo). No matter what your romantic status is you can still have a great day on Sunday. It's not about all the flowers, cards or fattening chocolate (these Valentine's Day staples were all put in place to make money for retailers like florists and greeting card companies). So don't get wrapped up in all the materialistic things. Take a warm, relaxing bath. Go get a massage. And if all else fails send yourself roses and maybe order yourself this...

Rebecca Minkoff "Love Letter Satchel" $495. How do I love the, let me count the ways...
1. It's a beautiful standout red (perfect for Spring), 2. It's a versatile shoulder and crossbody bag (hey, Dr. Oz says the crossbody is perfect for your back), 3. You get the picture.

On a sad note. Fashion designer Alexander McQueen was found dead in his London home yesterday from an apparent suicide. Such a great loss and shock to the fashion industry. He was always one to watch for creativity and excitement. RIP. See the story here.

Look Sexy in Sweats

There's a certain underwear/lounge wear store I'm currently obsessed with. I often find myself braving the pubescent styling, impossibly dark lighting and seriously overpowering scent of perfume just to sort through their sexy (and comfortable) underwear and the most decadent sweats ever. Suddenly I can't get enough of buying soft, comfortable sweats. Am I actually becoming one of those people who dress for comfort? What's next for me? An early debut of mom jeans (which would be particularly disturbing because I don't even have children)? Okay, I'll officially admit it-I love sweats. Not necessarily the ones with words written across the butt, but sweats that look like real clothes. They do exist and you don't even have to be on a couch or in a gym to wear them.

Cute look for Spring. Juicy Luxe Fleece Romper $168.

Helmet Lang Cotton Cashmere Harlem Pants $275

Rogan "Morita" Sweatshirt $228. Wear this with everything!

It's not all about drab gray sweats. You can mix in some color. GAP has a new hoodie with a slim body skimming cut. It can look pretty sexy when zipped down and worn alone or layered with a vest or denim shirt on top. I tried this on and actually bought it in this obnoxious, bright neon yellow (so sue me). It was so soft, I couldn't resist.
The cozy fleece hoodie $25, GAP (right now only 20 bucks in stores)

Kick It In Khaki: Part II

I know I went MIA last week (I was so swamped with work I didn't have a minute to breathe), but now I'm back with full force. Okay, so where was I? Oh, the natural khaki palette is fresh for Spring but feel free to spice it up with bright accessories. Don't be afraid to kick it up a notch!

Start with neutrals then add on bright colors as you go.

Make any neutral red hot with this wide leather waist belt.

Brighten up your look with warm yellow. The crossbody bag is very popular for Spring (your back will thank you). This one's a crossbody or a clutch you decide.

This pastel multi-colored heel can be paired up with anything from dresses to rolled up khaki pants.

Kick It In Khaki: Part I

Spring's just around the corner and you don't have to be surrounded by flowers if you don't want to. Actually, Spring's most popular color palette isn't that colorful all. It's all about being neutral. Several monochromatic ensembles strutted down the runways in khaki. I think it's a fresh, natural look. Perfect for Spring. Are you ready to kick it in khaki?

My Pants "Dublin" Cargo Pants $168

Pair with this...

Mason by Michelle Mason Elastic Back Tank $71.50
Layer these neutral colored dresses with other neutrals like a cropped khaki jacket or floaty cardigan.

See By Chloe "The Sweetheart Dress" $368
